Dialogue, awareness, and an educational activity on coexistence with wildlife in Vlasti, Eordaia!
On Thursday, 10 July, Callisto’s open discussion brought together local residents and visitors, who took part in a lively and engaging conversation about living alongside wildlife.
Together, we discussed how to respond to a possible encounter with a brown bear, how to prevent damage to livestock and agricultural production, why bears increasingly approach human settlements, and the practical measures that can help reduce these incidents.
On Friday, 11 July, it was the children’s turn to explore! At the Agios Ilias forest clearing, our young participants searched the forest for the brown bear’s favourite foods, learned about its biology and behaviour, and discovered through play why coexistence between people and wildlife is so important.
We would like to warmly thank the Earth Festival for its wonderful hospitality and excellent cooperation, as well as everyone who joined our activities for their enthusiasm, thoughtful questions, and valuable contributions. The strong participation reaffirmed that awareness-raising and open dialogue are essential tools for strengthening coexistence in landscapes shared by people and wildlife.
These activities were carried out as part of the LIFE DinPin Bear project, which promotes transboundary cooperation for the conservation of the brown bear and the improvement of coexistence between people and wildlife.
